How Nardil Helped Me Conquer Social Anxiety
Do you suffer from social anxiety? You need to get on Nardil. It works. I say this because I've experienced it myself. I transformed from having severe, crippling social anxiety to being almost anxiety free in just over 4 months.
I had always been shy to an extreme. Really shy. Beyond shy.
Are you sick and tired of constantly being scared, alone and terrified of people all the time? That was me. I used to obsessively spent all my time trying to figure out if there was a way to cure my social anxiety. I tried every tip in self help books and websites. Nothing worked. I still had no friends. I was at home by myself on the computer trying to find out yet another strategy every day. It was exhausting. Not the way life should be.
Then I found Nardil. It gave my a new life. People: there is a way out.
In just over four months, my life completely changed. I could walk out and easily say hi to someone on the street. I could exchange pleasantries with the grocery clerk. This led to so many other changes - like starting to feel good about my body and appearance and going out to buy new clothes after many many years.
I am setting this site up to have an opportunity to tell people who continue to suffer from social anxiety: put an end to the pointless exercise of trying this SSRI, that new herbal supplement and the latest breakthrough in breathing techniques to kill your social anxiety. You've tried those tactics. They have not worked. Give Nardil a chance. You have nothing to lose and YOUR LIFE TO GAIN.
Its ironic that there are millions of people out there suffering from social anxiety and they keep getting prescribed SSRI's and CBT with no really improvement and yet there is a drug that actually works! And its been around since the 1950's!
There has been substantial research in the past that established Nardils efficacy in treating social anxiety which is MUCH HIGHER then that of SSRI's. It just really unfortunate that Nardil (which belongs to the MAOI class of drugs) fell out of favour in the psychiatric community.
If its so effective, why isn't it prescribed all the time? Unfortunately there have been two major cases in the media - David Foster Wallace and Libby Zion - which in effect made "Nardil" a drug that practitioners would not want to touch with a 10 foot rod. These were VERY high profile cases and in fact, the Libby Zion case led to an amendment to the New York health code after a very public litigation case started by Libby's father. Now, admittedly these were very sad situations, BUT neither of these deaths were caused by Nardil. David Foster Wallace took Nardil for a long time but he stopped taking it which led to him falling into a major depression eventually leading to suicide. Libby was admitted in a hospital and died due to negligence of the doctors and residents of the hospital (she ended up with Serotonin Syndrome because she was on Nardil and the doctors administered Pethidine (a pain reliever....similar to morphine and was widely used as an analgesic in hospital setting till late 1970's) . What was not mentioned in the media was the fact that Serotonin syndrome has occurred in patients receiving concurrent antidepressant therapy with SSRI's as well. If anything, the drug to blame would have been Pethidine and not Nardil. In fact, in years to follow, it was discovered that administering it led to a toxic metabolite: norpethidine, which works on the serotonin neurotransmitter, so pethidine could lead to Serotonin Syndrome (which was not the case with most other analgesic opioids - like say morphine).
Crazy world.
Irrespective of where the blame lies, this has led to an outcome where Nardil ended up with a very negative reputation. Very few doctors will prescribe it today. This has been a very bad thing for us - the ones who suffer from social anxiety. The one drug that really works had become a pariah drug!
Good news is that Nardil continues to be manufactured. Local pharmacies may need to place a special order for Nardil so users tend to factor in a couple of extra days to get their prescriptions filled. I am hoping the information on this website will encourage you to learn more about this drug and to give it a try. Please. You owe it to yourself.
